Yoga regarded as a cultural side activity looses to many people a valuable tool. It is a pity because its practice contains a Big Theory that serves every individual, young and old, healthy or sick, rich or poor, or alone. Yoga is a Maintenance Manual that addresses all components of the complex system the human body is, a perfect machine. The facts:

The Human Body is a sealed Unit connected by systems of individual but shared functions: osseous, muscular, nervous and circulatory systems, organs with specific jobs plus chip regulators, glands. On the lead the Pituitary.

The sealed unit includes a brain which performs a main function – perceive - ability that promoted the development of senses to “make sense” of its environment. That capacity, unique to the brain, works either side to the exterior and to the interior of the unit.

Inside the unit also thoughts surface, some at will some unwillingly, and emotions of all shades. All of them are produced in the unit and, therefore, get stored inside.

BesidesHumans live in a universe ruled by so constant laws, that they make it appear static. Those laws touch the entire universe’s content. No exemptions. All throughout the Universe, different forms of energy connect, move, alight and communicate.

From all energies that impact Human body there is one contained in air, vital to life: the energy of oxygen atoms. A newborn wakes inhaling, the old man retires exhaling.

Therefore, a Human is an entity provided with a sealed unit – the body - and an intelligent receptor – the brain - that function by energy. They are vulnerable to the laws that rule the universe they inhabit.

Yoga, a tool that addresses the system as a whole is a maintenance manual, as follows:

Maintenance: Unit’s life, condition and durability depends on how it is treated. Yoga postures keep systems running swiftly and use their connections to get specific results. Postures that use the arms engage the arms and the heart. Torsions are beneficial for muscles and clean the liver. Flexions take care of the spine and give balance. Each posture in itself hides the secret of the unit’s well being. Also, by using each part for what it was made for, the body maintains its original design.

Fuels: The Unit requires oxygen and food. Pranayamas, breathing exercises, use the respiratory system in all its might obtaining effects both in the body and in the mood. They increase lung capacity, promote circulation, eliminate deposits, and widen the energy system. Control of breathing, primary source of energy, has powerful impact over the unit as a whole. It relaxes, calms, centres, and balances.

Main fuel is also food, which defines the unit's condition. A common perception that food affects only the digestive system does not contemplate the system as a whole. Quality of fuel decides durability of the unit.

Cleaning: Asanas - breathing and movement - can actually eliminate emotions and thoughts stored inside the unit. Apart from tears, the unit does not have any other drainage vehicle for them.

Peace of mind.  Within a conscience built of many stages, a dynamic mind processes and uses information. Yoga aims to the mind, to ease it. Relaxation, introspection and communication are its ways. These tools empower Human ability to regenerate itself. The unit contains the information required to rebuild a bone, a tissue, or to heal a malfunctioning organ. That regenerative ability reaches its best when in repose. Once the body rests, it ceases to be an object of attention to the mind. Its own forces unfold. And the mind is left to deal with the traffic of its own thoughts. Sound, mantras, give the mind a concentration focus allowing the brain to act in fields it does not usually do. Inside. It meditates. Body in repose and a focused mind, it opens to the senses the inner universe that share essence with the Universe and therefore can connect with it.

Asanaspranayamasmantras and meditation - postures, breathing, sound and introspection - regulate energy, clean the system, and empower unit’s ability to regenerate, perceive and communicate. It is a tool that transforms, there for every one. Far from being a tool only for the fit it is a powerful option for those whose burden may be hard. May it be alcohol, drugs, overeating, depression, panic attacks or loneliness, actual common malfunctions of the World Units, Yoga protects the body and balances the mind. Fitness is the result.
